Meet Bill!

Bill is a happy, energetic, loving 4 month old shepherd mix who almost lost his chance at a happy, spoiled life full of love, cuddles, toys, and treats with his fur-ever family at an extremely young age. He was brought into my veterinary clinic when he was under 8 weeks old by a family who claimed they found him outside and wanted to scan for a microchip. Of course, he had no chip and the parents stated they would just re-release him back outside in a “safe area.” Even though he was incredibly sick at the time from severe hookworm, roundworm and whipworm infestations that caused anemia to the point his gums where almost completely white, the family refused all veterinary care and insisted he would be ok back out on the streets.

We couldn’t stand the thought of this little puppy, who weighed a little over 8 pounds, being abandoned outside to die. The foster asked the family to leave him with with her and would take over Bill’s medical treatments. He required multiple blood transfusions and a series of dewormers for him to begin healing. Once he was medically cleared to leave the veterinary ER hospital, she took him home to finish recovering.

Bill is a happy-go-lucky boy who loves to run outside, as well as doing zoomies, kisses and cuddles (including turning me into a pillow at bedtime!), playing with his toys, jumping into the bathtub whenever there’s water in it, regardless of the shower or tub itself, and trying to get his older brother to play with him as often as possible. He would love to have someone to run/jog with, go explore new places on a hike, perhaps even going for a swim at the lake or river, throw his toys and play tug-of-war. He knows how to sit for a treat at this point, is uber smart but also stubborn as a mule! He’s eager to please and loves belly rubs and praise in addition to treats as training rewards.
