Dogs and their owners participate in the fun event

The 14th Annual Doggie Dash dodged another rain delay and drew hundreds of pet owners and their pooches as well as other animal lovers to fill the streets of Schertz on Saturday, June 13.

Originally planned for Saturday, May 16, the Doggie Dash and its 5K Fun Run/Walk were washed out by historically rainy weather in these parts.

After days of bright blue skies , dark clouds returned just before the rescheduled date and had everyone hoping any rain would hold off….and it did…much to the relief of the Homes For Pets/Schertz Humane Society, which sponsors the Doggie Dash.

With a Super Hero theme, this year’s event produced an awesome and amusing group of costumed owners and dogs. including a three-legged, red cape wearing dog name “Super” and his red cap wearing owner.

The biggest question of the day seemed to be – who was having the most fun, the two-legged or four-legged participants.

Actually, there was more than enough fun going around for everyone.

Proceeds from the event go to support the Homes For Pets/Schertz Humane Society. For more information go to www.homesforpets.org
